Ivan Darrell Berry November 20, 1940 — January 12, 2025 Gilmer, TX Croley Funeral Home Ivan Darrell Berry, 84, passed away on January 12, 2025, in Gilmer. Ivan was born on November 20, 1940, to Ernest Berry and Jewell Johnson Berry. He grew up in Sand Hill and graduated from East Mountain High School in 1959 with the love of his life, Linda Stracener Berry. They first walked "down the aisle" together when they were 14 at their 8th grade graduation. He received a bachelor's degree in business administration from LeTourneau University. He retired from his electronics career at E Systems in Greenville and they moved back to Gilmer in 2001. Ivan had an insatiable curiosity and read and collected a huge library of books. His favorite subjects were history, religion, politics, economics, music, and poetry. He loved to share his vast wealth of knowledge with friends, family, and strangers. Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Linda; daughters, Lisa Berry and Monica Lynn; brother, Garry W. Berry; and grandson, Patrick Fitzgerald. Ivan was preceded in death by his parents. A visitation will be held on January 15, 2025, at Sand Hill Cemetery in Gilmer, Texas, from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM. Following this, a graveside service will take place at the same location from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM with reception to follow.
