Bio

Catherine (Katy) Chapman, 92, died on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at Medicalodge in Atchison. Katy was born on November 25, 1932, in Atwood Kansas to John and Anna Jesch Kacirek. She had 13 Siblings. They all preceded her in death. She graduated from Colby High School in 1950 and later moved to Horton KS where she met her future husband, Jack. They were married in 1951. They then moved to Atchison where Jack spent a career with MGP. Katy was well known for working the lunch counter at Domann Drugs and Moody's Café in Atchison as well as the American Legion. She was very active in the Catholic church her entire life. Katy is survived by her daughter and five grandsons. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, in 1999 and her son, John Chapman, in 2023. Services will be held at 3PM on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at the Arensberg Pruett Funeral Home with visitation from 2:00-2:45 PM before the funeral. A rosary will be at 2:45PM before the service. She will be laid to rest at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
