Janet Anderson, 91 of Grand Island, NE, formerly of Farmington, NM, was a beloved wife, aunt, and friend, who passed away peacefully on December 26, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, adventure, and community spirit. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 10th at All Faiths Funeral Home. Janet was born November 11, 1933, in Loup City, NE, the daughter of Fritz and Anna (Holzerland) Schwaderer. She grew up in Loup City, graduating with the class of 1951. Janet married Robert "Bob" Anderson on August 22, 1952, and they began their life together in Lincoln, Nebraska. One day, Bob came home with unexpected news—they were moving to Farmington, New Mexico. That very day, they packed up and started their new life in the Southwest. Despite the distance, Janet and Bob frequently traveled back to Nebraska to visit family, including one memorable final trip in a brand-new car Bob purchased to visit his ailing sister. While in Farmington, Janet worked at various grocery stores, including Safeway and Piggly Wiggly, and built a life full of rich experiences. She and Bob were avid bowlers, participating in numerous leagues. They were active members of the Four Corners Miners and Prospectors Association, which allowed them to travel extensively during their retirement years along with visiting their favorite casino Sky Ute frequently. Janet's love for hummingbirds was well known. She maintained an impressive collection of hummingbird memorabilia and cared for hundreds of the birds at her home. Her neighbors affectionately referred to her as "the neighborhood watch," as she kept a caring eye on the comings and goings in her community. She also cherished the tradition of keeping a guest register book, which every visitor to her Farmington home would sign. In 2023, Janet returned to Grand Island, Nebraska, to live with her niece and caretaker, Darci Schwaderer. There, she enjoyed the companionship of beloved puppy, Bella, and the love of her extended family. Janet is survived by her niece, Darci Schwaderer and special friend (Kurt Summers); sisters-in-law, Mary Stefka and Betty Thompson; brother-in-law, Theodore (Ted) Anderson; several extended family members; and her cherished four-legged schnauzer Bella. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; and her brother and sister-in-law Darrel Schwaderer (Carmen).
