Bio
Fort Bend Herald, December 31, 2024: Marvin Francis Sliva was born in Sealy to Frank J. Sliva, Jr. and Pauline (Starustka) Sliva. He attended Guardian Angel Catholic School and graduated from Wallis High School in 1956. After graduation, Marvin attended Southwestern Business University in Houston while working part-time at Henke & Pillot for 14 months. He moved on to working full-time at Kroger in Rosenberg in December of 1957. Marvin worked his way up from sacker to store manager and retired in 1984 after 28 years with Kroger. Two years later, he went to work at Fort Bend County Precinct 1 (Fort Bend County Road and Bridge) where he worked for just over 30 years as a parts coordinator. Marvin was a charter member of the Wallis Lions Club. He was active in several organizations, including the KJT and the Rosenberg Rotary Club. He was also a member of and held many offices in the Rosenberg Junior Chamber of Commerce (Jaycees). He was an award-winning domino player, enjoying many games of Moon and Forty-Two at Bohemian Hill in Rosenberg. He enjoyed cheering for the Yankees, the Oilers, the Rockets, and the Astros. Marvin had a good time in life, though he "would rather be at Rick's Cabaret." Marvin was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Richard E. Sliva. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Dianne Sliva; nephew, Steven and wife, Sherry Sliva; niece, Melissa McFarland and daughter, Megan; nephew, Christopher and wife, Crystal Sliva, and their children, Miriam and Frank III. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 2, from 9:00 am-10:30 am at Guardian Angel Catholic Church, 5610 Demel Street, Wallis, Texas 77485, with a rosary and service to follow. Interment: Guardian Angel Catholic Church Cemetery.
