Bio
Ann Eloise Kopacz (Karnowski) passed away at the age of 77 at her home in San Diego, CA. She was born in Bryan, TX on 11 April 1947 to Edwin Henry and Inez Rawls Karnowski. Ann attended East Carolina University. She worked primarily in finance throughout her career. Ann married Anthony J. Kopacz (deceased) on 4 June 1970. Together Ann and Tony lived in several locations across the United States and Yokosuka, Japan while Tony served in the United States Navy. Japan was a place very dear to Ann. She loved to tell stories about her time there and taught us many things about Japanese culture. She was proud to have taught English classes to the local community during her time there. Ann loved being a military wife. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining every chance she had. Ann was an intelligent, generous, thoughtful and proud woman. Ann is proceeded in death by her husband, Anthony J. Kopacz (2013) as well as her Father and Mother, Edwin and Inez Karnowski. She is survived by her brother, step son and her nephews and niece. Ann has been interred at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery with her husband. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, 1700 Cabrillo Memorial Dr. San Diego, CA 92106. Donations in memory of Ann E. Kopacz may be made to the following: Toys for Tots, San Diego Zoo, Lions Tigers & Bears, San Diego Humane Society and Horses of Tir Na Nog. (obits.smartcremation.com)
