Stephen Wegener, 73, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Emerald Care Nursing and Rehab in Columbus. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Francis Catholic Church in Humphrey will be held on Thursday, December 26 at 10:30 AM, with Fr. Stan Schmit celebrating the Mass. Visitation will be on Thursday from 9:00 AM until Mass time at the church. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Stephen Wegener was born on December 26, 1950, in Newman Grove, Nebraska, to Emmert and Rita (Wessel) Wegener. He attended Lindsay Holy Family Grade School and graduated in 1970 from Humphrey High School. Stephen worked at D & L in Columbus for 36 years. Because of health issues, Stephen has lived in a home in Columbus since 2006. He loved his nieces and nephews very much and could tell you when their birthday was. Stephen had a special interest in cars and loved watching the movies "The Fast & Furious". Stephen is survived by: Brother – Gerald (Loretta) Wegener of Lindsay, NE Brother – Robert (Susan) Wegener of Lindsay, NE Brother – Randall (Sharon) Wegener of Humphrey, NE Brother – Mark (Sandy) Wegener of Humphrey, NE Sister-in-law – Robin Wegener of Lindsay, NE Nieces and nephews Stephen was preceded in death by: Parents – Emmert & Rita Wegener Brother – Richard Wegener
