Memorial Mass for Adaline A. "Addie" Divis was held on Friday, December 27, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the All Saints Catholic Church in Holdrege, Nebraska with Father Jay Buhman, as celebrant. Rosary was recited prior to the Mass at the church at 10:00 a.m. A private family inurnment was held on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at the St. Francis Catholic Cemetery at Wahoo, Nebraska. Adaline Alice "Addie" Divis, 104 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at the Holdrege Memorial Homes. Addie was born August 7, 1920, in rural Saunders County, Nebraska, the daughter of Frank and Agnes Ann (Votova) Ratkovec. She received her education from Valparaiso Public Schools. On April 11, 1939, she was united in marriage to Joseph Tomcak and they were blessed with three children. The family made their home on a farm near Weston, Nebraska where she helped Joe with the farming operation. In 1955, they moved to Kearney where they owned and operated Chief Motel until 1972. After Joe's death, Addie was united in marriage to Merle James Edward Divis and 10 more young adult children became part of their combined family. She was a faithful member of the All Saints Catholic Church in Holdrege, where she served on the Altar Society. Addie was also a past member of the B.P.O. DOES. She loved her bowling team and league and enjoyed ceramics, needlework, embroidery, and crocheting. She and Merle also loved golfing, fishing, traveling, and camping. Besides her husbands; Addie was preceded in death by; two step-daughters: Janice Divis and Mary Jo Jones; one step-son, Michael Divis; two step-sons-in-law: Perry Meier; and Richard Zeller; two granddaughters: Nicole Kielhorn and Renna Divis; three great-grandsons: Jace Jones; Caden Meier; and Aiden Meier; grandson-in-law, Chris McCurdy; great-granddaughter, Ginger Johnson; and two brothers: Louis Ratkovec; Leonard (Marge) Ratkovec; two sisters: Georgia (Frank) Kliment; and Marie (Edwin) Kucera. Addie leaves to celebrate her life two daughters: Charlene Scoville and her husband, Lorin of Cheyenne, Wyoming; and Connie Hanna and her husband, John of York, Nebraska; one son, Larry Tomcak and his wife, Mary of Hastings, Nebraska; two step-sons: Father James Divis of Alma, Nebraska; and Jeff Divis and his wife, Dorothy of Pinson, Alabama; five step-daughters: Kathy Zeller of Monroe, Nebraska; Connie Kielhorn and her husband, Dr. Alden Kielhorn of Horton, Michigan, Cheryl Gustafson and her husband, Jeff of Sutton, Nebraska, Teresa Meier of Mesa, Arizona, and Jeanette Nedrig and her husband, Russ of Holdrege; and son-in-law, Dan Jones of Holdrege. In addition, Addie was blessed with 30 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. There will be no visitation, the family is honoring Addie's wish for cremation. The Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege was in charge of the arrangements.
