When Martha Ann Hodges was born in January 1847, in Montgomery, Tennessee, United States, her father, Daniel Stokes Hodges, was 35 and her mother, Elizabeth Black, was 30. She married Barney Jefferson Coon on 24 February 1870, in Montgomery, Tennessee, United States. They were the parents of at least 4 sons and 4 daughters. She lived in Tennessee, United States in 1870. She died about 1906, in Dickson, Tennessee, United States, at the age of 59. Family history suggests she had one indigenous parent of Cherokee heritage. Children: William Barney, Johnny, Arthur, Alice (mother of Edgar), Samantha, and Nellie. She was born 9 January 1847 and died 13 April 1906.
