Born on September 5, 1928, in the mountains of Eastern Kentucky, Jerry lived a full and vibrant life marked by his boundless energy, humor, and devotion to his loved ones. Jerry married Helen Doris Fisher Hughes, with whom he shared a remarkable partnership. Jerry is survived by 8 children: Jerry Hughes jr., Diane Powell, Elaine Baber, Precht Williams, Terry Hess, Ed Hughes, Paul Hughes, and Fred Hughes. Jerry is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren. As a father, Jerry was a guiding light, imparting wisdom and instilling a strong sense of values that continue to shape his children's lives. A true entrepreneur, Jerry owned and operated multiple successful bars and restaurants until his retirement in 1985. Jerry was also a dedicated supporter of local high school football. Whether sharing a joke with friends, performing a magic trick for a child, or greeting the ladies with his signature charm, Jerry had a gift for making everyone feel special. His warmth and humor left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Jerry's legacy is one of love, laughter, and community. He will be deeply missed by his wife Helen, his children, grandchildren, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Rosary and visitation will be held at 6:00 pm, Thursday, December 12, 2024 at Scott Funeral Home in Muenster. Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 am, Friday, December 13, 2024 at St. Peters Catholic Church in Lindsay. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor his memory by sharing a joke, showing kindness to a child, or spreading joy in your own way—just as Jerry always did.
