Opal Jean Lucas Obituary Opal Jean (Beasley) Lucas, 97 years and 11 months old of Sapulpa passed away on November 15th, 2024. She is now in her heavenly home with her Savior Jesus Christ and all the family that preceded her. Opal was born in Kellyville, Oklahoma, on December 27, 1926, to Andrew and Nancy Beasley. She attended Kellyville High School and graduated. Opal met and married Junior Lucas on November 1st, 1945. During their 54 years of marriage, two daughters were born. Upon Junior's retirement from Frankhoma Pottery, they purchased a motor home and traveled the United States. Most of their trips were fishing trips as both were avid fishermen. Opal loved bowling and bowled for 35 and a half years, mostly at Sapulpa's two bowling lanes. For many years she held the high 600 series for women with a 667 game. She coached many junior bowlers and traveled to many tournaments throughout the states. Opal held a lifetime membership in D.A.V., V.F.W., and American Legion. She served as auxiliary commander. She was also involved with R.S.V.A., Sertoma, Historical Museum of Sapulpa for many years. She gave many hours of service to all of these which she was very proud to do. Opal was a longtime member of Westside Freewill Baptist church. There she formed a bond with other quilting enthusiasts. Most of the time they do their quilting at the church but at times they go into their homes. She quilted for about 20 years, 3-4 times a week. Opal's biggest enjoyment of her life was her antique collecting. She would hit garage sales, estate sales, auctions and anywhere she could go. She even went out of state many times t find that perfect piece. She would drag anyone willing to go with her. She kept herself informed on all antiques and their value. Her girls always thought "Oh no, here comes another piece of junk", but she knew otherwise. Opal is preceded in death by her husband, Junior, and her parents, Andy Beasley and Nancy Patterson. Two sisters, Virginia VanDelsem and Mary Cordell, three half brothers, James, Jimmy, and Vernon Gee, and son-in-law, Jim Hunter. Opal is survived by two daughters, Nancy Knowles and husband Wayne of Sapulpa and Carol Hunter, also of Sapulpa. She is also survived by her half-sister Evelyn Graham and husband Hershel and her sister-in-law Ramona Gee. 5 grandchildren: Michael Willibey and Debbie, James Hunter and wife, Lisa, Pam Slaton and husband, Brian, Bryan Willibey and wife, Rita, and Traci Sanders and husband, Chris. 12 great-grandchildren: Michael Ann Aven, Devin Willibey, Colton and Aaron Hunter, Madison and Jaidyn Stabler, Lucas, Tina, Joseph WIllibey, Bryan Senger, Jacob and Ben Foster. 7 great-great-grandchildren: Evey and Anakin Aven, Brylee and Jackson Scott, Ruthie and Lee Hunter, and Harrison Senger. Services will be held on Friday, November 22nd, at 2 PM at Smith Funeral Home with interment to follow at Green Hill Cemetery. Services are under the direction and care of Smith Funeral Home at 1208 S. Main Sapulpa, OK 74066.
