The Banner-Press (David City, Nebr.), December 23, 1982, p. 20, col. 5 Frank Hajek services conducted on Monday Funeral services for Frank Hajek of Abie were conducted Monday, Dec. 20, from the Kucera-Rozanek Chapel in Schuyler. Mr. Hajek, 95, died Friday, Dec. 17, at Birchwood Manor in North Bend, where he had been a resident for a year. Rev. Ron Wakemann officiated at the services. Music was furnished by Helen Sedlacek and Frederick Houfek. Pallbearers were Emil Semrad, Anthony Prochaska, Emil Johannes, Joe Krov, George Virgil and Harold Kozisek. Burial was in the Abie National Cemetery. Frank Hajek, the son of Kasper and Mary Zeman Hajek, was born April 7, 1887, on a farm near Abie. On Dec. 27, 1915, he was united in marriage with Sylvia Sobolik at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Anton Sobolik in Abie. One daughter was born to this union. A lifelong resident of Butler County, he farmed across the road from the farm of his parents. Survivors include two brothers, Kasper Hajek of Linwood and Edward of Schuyler; a son-in-law, Alvin Eckstein of Linwood; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his only daughter, Mrs. Alvin (Irene) Eckstein, who died Aug. 7, 1981; four brothers and two sisters.
