~ This is a Monument Memorial only ~ Melvina was a daughter of Gorina "Goro" Torgersdatter and Johannes "John" Johnson of Norway. They sailed from the harbor at Liverpool 23 May and arrived at the Port of New York 10 July 1863. They sailed aboard the SS Antarctic. Shortly after the family reached America, they joined an Unknown Wagon Company of LDS Church members to migrate to the Great Salt Lake Valley in Utah Territory. They evidentially left the East in mid July 1863. Her sister, Matilda, died just as they prepared to leave the outfitting post. Melvina passed away shortly after the overland travelers set out for Utah Territory. Both were buried alongside the Mormon Trail.
