Myrtle Lee (Kotrla) Friemel, 91, of La Grange, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, November 1, 2024. Myrtle was born in Columbus, Texas on June 16, 1933 to the late Ed and Minnie (Martinek) Kotrla. She married the love of her life, Herbert F. Friemel, Sr., on October 19, 1952. They were married for 56 years until his death on May 1, 2008. Myrtle worked as a teacher's aide for La Grange High School, as a secretary with State Farm Insurance, and she managed Bills Dollar Store. Myrtle also volunteered her time working with St. Mark's Auxiliary, St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, and with Second Chance. Myrtle was a devout Christian and touched the hearts of all that she met. She instilled the values of faith, hard work, and the importance of loving one another to her family. She is survived by her sons, Royce Friemel and wife, JoAnn, Herbert Friemel, Jr. and wife, Elaine "Sissy", all of La Grange; five grandsons; one granddaughter; five great-granddaughters and two great-grandsons; one great-great-grandson; and her sister, Jane Schneider of La Grange. Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herbert Sr.; two brothers, Alvin and Howard Kotrla; one sister, Bessie Parrish; and a brother-in-law, Glen Schneider. A visitation will be held prior to the funeral service at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations of La Grange on Thursday, November 7, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with family present at this time to receive friends. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. After the chapel service, burial will follow at the La Grange City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hospice Brazos Valley, or to a charity of one's choice.
