The Eagle (South Sioux City Nebraska) 19 Jan 1933 Thu p. 4: John A. McCartney, 63, died Sunday in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Jennie Bell, in this city. He was born in Dalmahue (Donahue?) Ia., March 29, 1869, and moved to Ashland when a young man. He resided in Ashland until 1917, when he moved to this city. Surviving are six daughters, Mrs. Edith Martin of Lincoln, Mrs. Mabel Livingston of Rainer, Wash., Bertha Hendrison of Tacoma, Wash., Mrs. Nettie Augustine of Omaha, Mrs. Hazel Wentworth and Mrs. Pearl Krenson, both of Clinton, Mo.; four sons, G.E., Glen, Glendora, and Albert, all of Brownington, Mo.; three sisters, Mrs. Bell this city, Mrs. Fannie Parrott, Clarinda, Ia., and Mrs. Effie Whipple of Sioux City; and three brothers, G. E. McCartney of Sioux City, Robert McCartney of Los Angeles, Cal., and Jesse McCartney of Bachelor, Mo. Funeral services were held at 2: 30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon in Becker's Funeral Chapel, Rev. E. N. Littrell, officiating. Burial was in the Dakota City Cemetery.
