Bio

Kevin Roh Quinn, of Omaha, age 67 entered into eternal life on October 21, 2024. Kevin was preceded in death by his parents, James and Marie Quinn, and his grandson Xavier Kevin Quinn. They greeted him with open arms. Kevin was a friend to everyone and enjoyed all things Irish. Most important to him, however, was his family. His love of music began as a child, he spent many a night singing and playing guitar with his siblings and friends in the family home. Kevin was a masterful host, facilitating legendary social gatherings. His annual Christmas parties, which spanned 38 years, will live in the hearts and memories of so many forever. Kevin is famous for his indomitable spirit, jovial demeanor, selfless nature, and for overdecorating a tiny bit at Christmas. Kevin revered his parents who instilled strength and an incredible work ethic in the family. His mother ran the household, while his father was an award-winning Journalist for the United Press International. Following his Father's footsteps, Kevin wrote for the UNO Gateway while in college and then for the US Army Corps of Engineers. Kevin excelled and became the most decorated Photo Journalist/Writer/Editor the Corps had ever known. He spent 14 of those years as the Chief of Public Affairs. Kevin was a significant part of the Omaha Irish music scene. He performed for 32 years as the lead singer of The County Corkers, Celtic Wind, and Donnybrook, and spent several years with the Turfmen. He traveled and performed all over the country and internationally; including 11 trips to Ireland, 3 trips to Scotland and the U.K. His most memorable performances were at the world's largest Irish Fest in Milwaukee in 1986 and 1987. Kevin also promoted many concerts and brought dozens of bands from Ireland to Omaha. He also helped organize musical fundraisers for people in need. He led 7 tours to Ireland, and as a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Kevin won an award for dedication to the cause. He also helped the ladies' division establish many festivals, Hooleys and Ceili's. The Ladies' Order awarded him the Presidential Award in 2010. Kevin was an outstanding athlete and grew up playing almost every sport. He was a leader on the field, just like he was in life. He was an All-State caliber QB and Punter for Rummel/Roncalli and played at UNO until a serious injury forced him to stop. He continued his passion for sports and coached multiple team sports for 27 years. His teams and their families loved and respected him. Kevin is survived by his beloved family. Daughter Hilary Quinn, son Jarrod Quinn (Tiffany), grandchildren Zachary Quinn, Trevor Quinn and Aubrey Quinn. Sisters Colleen Walter (Jim), Diane Meza (Andrew), Carmen Quinn, Pam Gardner (Tom), Andrea Zink (Joe), brother Colin Quinn (Tami), and many beloved Roh and Quinn nieces and nephews. He is also survived by numerous cousins and friends. "My Dad will always be my hero, the lessons he taught and the love he shared with the world have blessed so many, and will be passed on for many generations to come." -Jarrod Quinn Details for Kevin's Celebration of Life ceremony will be posted on Facebook in the "Remembering Kevin Quinn" group in the coming weeks. It is going to take a while to prepare the party he has carefully planned out in his Will
