THE DeQUINCY NEWS, (DeQuincy, Louisiana) Friday, January 27, 1950 Page 1 Last Rites Conducted For James L. Heard Here Saturday Funeral services for James L. Heard, 69, were held Saturday afternoon at the Snider funeral home, Rev. W.E. Hellen officiated. Burial was in Rigmaiden cemetery. Mr. Heard died Thursday at 1:45 p.m., after an illness of several months. He had lived in DeQuincy the past 40 years, having come here from Dry Creek, La. A retired Missouri Pacific railway employee, he was a member of the First Baptist church, WOW and IOOF. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. George McQueen; a son, Marshall Heard, Indianapolis, Ind.; a brother, J.L. Heard, Port Arthur, Texas; three sisters, Mrs. Lawrence Carter of Port Arthur, Mrs. L.J. Barrett of Houston, Texas, and Mrs. Edna Henderson of Tyler, Texas, and four grandchildren.
