Obituary (from the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow funeral home website): Doris Evelyn Roderick, of Grand Prairie, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2024, at the age of 89. The last remaining of fifteen beloved siblings, Doris was born on April 8, 1935, in Collin County, Texas, to loving parents Sam Barnes and Armatha (Rich) Barnes. She spent her childhood in Lucas, Texas, where she attended school and developed a deep love for volunteering and caring for the elderly in her community. Doris cherished her role as a homemaker, finding joy in creating a nurturing and loving environment for her family. She had a natural gift in the kitchen, transforming simple ingredients into exquisite meals fit for royalty that delighted everyone at the table. As a longtime member of the Rebecca Lodge, she embodied the spirit of sisterhood and community. Her involvement went beyond just attending meetings; she actively participated in charitable events and supported her fellow members through thick and thin. In addition, Doris took immense pride in raising her grandchild, Michael David Tune, nurturing him with love and wisdom. Doris is survived by her daughters, Lorrie Cox and husband Ken, of Haltom City, Texas, and Kim Ewart and husband Tony, of Burleson, Texas; sons Billy Hatfield and wife Maria, of Naples, Texas, and Chris Alan Hatfield and wife Sherri, of Dallas, Texas; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of other loving family and friends. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, and daughters Kathy Ford, and Judy Murphy Clark. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. The service will also be live streamed. Following the funeral, a committal service will take place at Fitzhugh Cemetery, 2540 Country Club Rd, Lucas, Texas 75002. The family will receive friends during a visitation an hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
