Bio

Joanne Glasgow, 79, of Athens was peacefully reunited with her Lord and Savior, the evening of Easter Sunday, April 4, 2021. Jo, affectionately known as Coco, was a lifelong resident of Athens, Texas and lived in the Crescent Heights Community since 1971. Joanne was born and spent her early years on her family's farm in the Tri-Cities Community. She graduated at Malakoff High School and married a few years later in March of 1961. Joanne was remarried in 1980 to Jimmy Glasgow and was loved and cared for with devotion until her passing. Joanne held a master's degree in Business Accounting and enjoyed a lifelong career working in various companies, city offices and school administrations. She derived a great deal of pleasure immersing herself with numbers and figures and continued to work until she was not able. Coco's life was centered around Jesus and her family. She was a member at Fellowship Baptist Church until her passing. Coco was instrumental in leading her children and grandchildren to Christ and celebrated every moment she shared with them. She was an exemplary role model and the voice of sound judgment for all her family. Joanne is preceded in death by her Mother, Mary Jo Leopard, her Father, Elton R. Wallace, her Brother, Billy R. Wallace and her Stepson, Jerry Dean Glasgow. Coco is survived by her beloved husband, Jimmy Dean Glasgow, her eldest daughter, Jennifer Sorrell, her son Clint Sorrell and wife Robbi, her stepson Jimmy D. Glasgow Jr. and his wife, Pat, and stepdaughter Cindy Wylie. Coco's pride and joy were her grandchildren, Joni Aguilera and husband Milton, Mary Margaret Sorrell, Sadie Pacheco and husband Cole, Katie Sorrell, Ashley Tinsley and husband Jay, Jeffrey D. Glasgow and wife Jessica, Coleman Wylie and Sarah Wylie. Great grandchildren are Jacob Perkins, Hazel Tinsley, Samantha Glasgow, Emma Glasgow and Charlotte Glasgow. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 8, 2021 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Autry's Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Friday, April 9, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Fellowship Baptist Church in Athens, with Bro. Mike Dean officiating. There will be a private family burial following the service.
