Lawrenceburg - Garland Ray, 86, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003, at Crockett Hospital Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Pettus-Turnbo Funeral Home with Bill Moss and Wayne Seaton officiating. Burial will be in Lawrenceburg Memorial Gardnes. He was the son of the late Nancy Groves and Charles F. Ray. He was a retired business man of Ray & ? Company, a member of First Street Church of Christ and member of Lawrenceburg Lions Club. He was preceded in death by a brother, Howard Ray. Survivors include his wife, Mary Lois Long Ray; sons, Bill Ray of Bonare, Ga., and David Garland Ray of Lawrenceburg; stepsons, Gary Nutt of Lawrenceburg and Steve Nutt of Murfreesboro; a daughter, Cissy Ray Moss of Pulaski; seven stepgrandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Note: Taken from obituay in the Columbia Daily Herald. Note: Garland Groves Ray was the son of Charles Franklin (Charley) & Nancy Groves. He married Martha (unknown) abt 1942. Martha died in 1967 then he married Mary Lois Long (daughter of Hershall Long & Margaret Cole) 14 Oct 1968 in Lawrence Co., TN. Mary was the former wife of Wilton L. Nutt. Garland & Martha had 2 children; Garland & Mary had one child.
