Bio

Opal Cryer, 97-year-old longtime Cimmaron County Oklahoma resident passed away Friday, September 6, 2024, at Great Plains Nursing and Rehab Center in Dumas, Texas. Opal Dougherty was born on June 8, 1927, in Illinois to J.C and Nellie Dougherty. She moved to the Oklahoma panhandle with her parents at an early age. She attended the public school system until the eighth grade. On August 9, 1947, she was united in marriage to J.T. Cryer in Clayton, New Mexico. She worked as a homemaker and worked on the families cattle ranch. Opal was preceded in death by her parents, Husband J.T Cryer, three sisters: Aleta, Nadene and Nina, and one brother: Carl. She is survived by two sons. Opal is also survived by six grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren. Visitation will take place from 5:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at Henson-Novak Funeral Home in Boise City. Graveside funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at the Boise City Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Opals name may be made to Cimarron Heritage Center,1301 N.
