Lake, 83, who died Friday afternoon at 5:20 o'clock at his home two miles West of Eustace, were held Monday morning at 11 O'clock at the Sacred Heart Catholic church in Dallas. Burial was in the Oakland cemetery. Surviving are five sons: Otto and Carl Lake of Dallas, Oscar and Clayton Lake of Eustace and Robert Earl Lake of Houston; three daughters, Mrs. Lucille Lonon and Mrs. Hilton Meredith of Eustace and Mrs. Rosa Douglas of Winnsboro and sixteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mr. Lake was born in Germany and left that country when he was seventeen years of age. He went first to South America and from there came to Texas in 1888, settling in Dallas. He moved to Eustace in 1910. He was a member of the Catholic church since boyhood. Published in the Athens Review April 19, 1945
