Bio
Joy graduated from Paschal High School in 1951. During her senior year she met a young airman on a blind date. Upon graduation Pete asked Joy to marry him but due to her mother's protest she declined. Over the next three years Pete and Joy wrote letters back and forth as Pete was stationed around the country and attending school. Eventually, he made his way back to Fort Worth and proposed for a second time. This time an older and more independent Joy said yes. They married June 14, 1955 and spent the next 66 years together until Pete's death Oct. 6, 2021 (70 years together). Joy spent her life caring for others... her husband, children, grandchildren and many many more. Her faith in God and Jesus Christ as her Savior was evident in how she lived her life and treated others. She always had a smile and kind word for those with whom she came in contact. Joy was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Lorene Ruffin; and her husband of 66 years, Walter "Pete" Townsley. Survivors: Daughter, and husband, son, and wife, 5 grandchildren, and their spouses.
