Obituary (from the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow funeral home website): Clifford Jones of Denton, Texas passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 18, 2024 at the age of 96. He was born on September 4, 1927 in Allen, Texas to Cliff and Mackye (Shields) Jones. He graduated from Decatur Baptist College and served in the United States Army in Okinawa, Japan during WWII. Clifford returned home to begin farming and married Sarah Lee Jackson on October 29, 1948, until her death on April 20, 2001. Along with farming Clifford worked at Braniff Airlines in Dallas and developed a love of aviation. He became a private pilot, rebuilt two airplanes, and created Pleasure Field airstrip on his farm in the Parvin community. After his wife's death he married Dorothy Hartline on April 29, 2006 until her death on March 18, 2020. Clifford was a member and deacon at Gateway United Baptist Church. He is survived by daughters, Sonja Estep and husband Kenny and Brenda Worden and husband Dan; three grandchildren, Daniel Worden and wife, Catherine, Mindy Beal and husband, Daniel, and Cory Worden and wife, Jessalynn; great grandchildren, Cali Beal, Clementine Worden, and Quinn Worden. Clifford was also preceded in death by his brother, Lowell Jones, granddaughter, Amy Estep, and great grandson, Jonah Worden. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 23, 2024 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. The family will receive guests for a visitation from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Friday. The service will also be live streamed. Interment will be held at Ridgeview Memorial Park following the service.
