The Oregonian Portland, Oregon Sunday, Aug. 4, 2024 June Reed June Edna Myers Reed, affectionately known as Junnie, passed away on July 24, 2024 in Beaverton, Ore., at the age of 91. Born on June 10, 1933 in Portland, Ore., June led a fulfilling life marked by her entrepreneurial spirit and devotion to her community. June was a proud graduate of Beaverton High School and went on to become a well-known small business owner in the area. She owned and operated June's Knit Shop on Lombard in Beaverton, where she provided knitting machines, accessories, and yarn. Besides running her shop, June was passionate about teaching and authored several knitting machine patterns and how-to books, helping spread her love for knitting to others. Her commitment to her faith was evident in her over 75 years of membership at the First United Methodist Church of Beaverton. June was deeply involved in church activities and cherished her church community. June enjoyed traveling, machine knitting, sewing, and crochet, hobbies that not only brought her joy but also allowed her to connect with people from various walks of life. She is survived by her sister Jaci Koeber; her daughters, Melodee Knapp (Tim) of Wilsonville and Joy Ottmar (Ted) of Beaverton; sons, John Reed (Echo) of North Bend and Jim Reed (Colette) of Portland; as well as 12 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death her husband Ken of 57 years, both parents and several close relatives. A memorial service to celebrate June's life will be held at 2 p.m., on Sunday, August 25, 2024, at the First United Methodist Church of Beaverton, located at 12555 SW Fourth Ave., Beaverton, Ore., 97005. Her life will be remembered for her contributions to her community, her church, and her enduring legacy through her family and the many lives she touched.
