The Springdale News Springdale,AR May 5,1905 GILLILAND, Josephine MANKINS – Mrs. Josephine Gillialnd, wife of L.A. Gilliland, which occurred at 12:45 o'clock at their home in the McQuaid addition, was due to pneumonia. She had been sick only about a week. Funeral services were held at the residence Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. ? A. Smith, Pastor of the First Baptist church, and the remains were interred in Bluff Cemetery. Mrs. Gilliland Was a daughter of Peter Mankins and was near Sulphur City, in the south part of the county and was a grand-daughter of the noted Uncle Pete Mankins who lived to be 106 years old. Mr.Gilliland is also a native of Washington County and they have spent most of their lives in this county. About three years ago they moved to Chekota, Creek Nation where they resided until a few weeks ago when they come to Springdale. Mrs. Gilliland was a half sister of Mrs. Johnson Crawford of Prairie Grove. She had for a number of years been a member of the Baptist church. Deceased leaves a family consisting of husband and seven children, all girls, ranging in age from 16 to 2 years, and in their sad bereavement they have the sympathy of all.
