Bio
Terry J. Scheinost, 69, of Syracuse, passed away on August 4, 2024, at Bryan East Hospital in Lincoln. He was born on October 19, 1954, in Lynch, to Ladimer & Hildred (Hafsaas) Scheinost. Terry married Pat Staack on April 19, 1974, at St. Paulinus Catholic Church in Syracuse and they recently celebrated 50 years together. For almost 35 years, Terry owned and operated Terry's Family Foods. He took pride in supporting his community, not only as a business owner but also as a volunteer fireman. Terry had a passion for hunting, fishing and supporting all the local Rocket sports teams. He also enjoyed watching the Huskers and sprint car races. Most importantly he cherished the time he could spend with his family and grandchildren. Terry is survived by his wife, Pat Scheinost; daughters Lori (Tony) Starzec and Lisa (Blake) Voorhees; grandchildren Jase and Jenna Voorhees, and Teagan and Tate Starzec; siblings Bob (Marilyn) Scheinost, Ron (Sheila) Scheinost, Don (Marcia) Scheinost, and Arlene (Dave) Wiebusch; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law John Hagedorn, Fritz Staack, Hank Staack, Gary (Kim) Staack, Ron (Sherri) Staack, Carol (Mike) Graham, and Kennie (Dee Dee) Staack; also numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Betty Hagedorn, Lyle "Frank" Scheinost, Barb Schweitzer, Eddie Ray Scheinost, and Marie Grace Scheinost; parents-in-law Harold and Leila Staack; and brother-in-law John Staack. A memorial mass will be held on Friday, August 9th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paulinus Catholic Church in Syracuse. The service will be livestreamed on the St. Paulinus Facebook page. Burial will follow at the Park Hill Cemetery in Syracuse.
