Bio

JAMES H. ROSS James H. Ross, 92, 104 W. Holston Ave., died Sunday night in Memorial Hospital. During his long life, Ross had had some colorful experiences, A native of Hawkins County, he went West when he was about 30 years old, to Western Idaho, then a section still wild and untamed. There he became a sheep-herder, taking supplies and going for long periods of time up into the mountains. About the only person he would see for months would be the one who brought in extra supplies. After about four years, Ross bought his own ranch where he raised registered dairy cattle. He was in Idaho for approximately 50 years, returning to make his home in Johnson City 12 years ago. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Weiser, Ida. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Grace Hettinger Ross, in 1945. Survivors are one brother, B. M. Ross, Maryville, a sister-in-law, Mrs. R. S. Ross, Johnson City; several nieces and nephews, among them Ruth, Ruby Jane and Bertie Ross, of the home, and L. E Ross, Johnson City. Morris is in charge of arrangements.
