Ezell, Jimmy Ray JIMMY RAY EZELL 1933-2008 Jimmy Ezell, 74, passed away peacefully at home on June 2, 2008. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Ezell, and by his brother, James Earl Ezell. Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-two years, Elna Ezell; his daughter, Cindy Toler; son-in-law, Mark Toler; grandsons, Eric and Jason Toler; son, Jeff Ezell; sister, Billie Merle Barrington; brother-in-law, John Barrington; niece, Martha Pipkins; nephew, Jack Barrington; niece, Kathy Hammond; aunt, Ella Ree Little; and uncle, Robert Partrick. Born in Rogersville, Alabama, Jimmy moved to Florida in the mid-1950s and became a firefighter at Pensacola Naval Air Station. He later joined the Safety Department at N.A.S. In 1983 Jimmy became the head of the Safety Department at Whiting Field. He retired in 1989 due to medical reasons. At a very early age Jimmy drove tractors, work on combines, and picked cotton in the fields of Northern Alabama. When he was still just a young boy, he began working at a fishing camp on the Tennessee River, helping to carry fishermen?s tackle, patching leaky boats, and rounding up the stray boats at the end of the day that were left behind by the fishermen. In high school he played football, baseball, and basketball and worked a weekend job at a service station. When he was able, Jimmy enjoyed playing his guitar, gardening, and visiting his boyhood home in Alabama. Jimmy was a member of East Brent Baptist Church. The immediate family would like to thank all of the friends and family members who have long showed their concerns and long kept Jimmy in their thoughts and prayers. Visitation will be held at Faith Chapel North (Cantonment, Fl) on Thursday, June 5 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Faith Chapel North (Cantonment, Fl) at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 6 with Dr. Dale Patterson presiding. Graveside service will follow at Pensacola Memorial Gardens. Faith Chapel Funeral Home North (Cantonment, Fl), 1000 Highway 29 South Cantonment, Florida 32533 will be in charge of arrangements.
