Bio

Lorraine Jane Colston-Tenney, aged 77, passed away on July 28, 2024 peacefully at her home surrounded by family. Born on August 11, 1946 in Ennis, Texas she was the daughter of Joe F. and Rosie Slovak. Lorraine graduated from St. John's High School and went to work for Employers Casualty and AIG Insurance companies for approximately 48 years in Dallas. Lorraine was a lifetime member of St. John's Catholic Church and KJZT. She was an active member of The Catholic Daughters and volunteered for many church activities. Lorraine was a wonderful sister, aunt, wife and friend who was cherished and loved by all who knew her. She had a talent for cooking and baking and she made every celebration special for her loved ones. Her most requested desserts included her infamous chocolate meringue pie, Reese's Peanut Butter Cup pie, and monkey bread. Anyone who truly knew Lorraine knows that she kept a meticulous house and believed firmly in her daily routines. Lorraine and her late husband L.B. Colston enjoyed Czech Beseda dancing. She enjoyed walks around her neighborhood and taking care of her yard and flowers. With a close group of friends she enjoyed "scheduled" water aerobics. After the loss of her first love, she met and married Dan Tenney. He brought a smile to her face and joy in her heart that she so longed for. Together they shared 7 beautiful years of marriage, living life and traveling. Some of their best memories were shared while traveling with Czech Heritage Tours to the Czech Republic, Switzerland, and Germany. She is preceded in death by her parents Joe F. and Rosie Slovak and her first husband L.B.(Louis Baxter) Colston. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 30, 2024 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. (Rosary at 7 p.m.) in the J. E. Keever Mortuary Chapel in Ennis, Texas. Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at 10 a.m. in St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Ennis. Entombment will be in the Mausoleum in St. Joseph Cemetery under the direction of J. E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
