Bio

Betty Louise (Baldwin) Bowman, 92, of Phoenix, AZ passed away on December 27, 2015. She was born on August 12, 1923 in Brock, Nebraska to Esta Mae and Rev. Edgar Baldwin, an itinerant Methodist minister. She was the oldest of six children. Betty and her family lived in Omaha, Nebraska where she graduated from Tech High School. In the midst of WWII, Betty landed a job as a bookkeeper with a hardware firm, replacing two college men who were off fighting in the war. After hours, she volunteered with the USO, and met Sgt. Charles "Charlie" Bowman, who was stationed at Ft. Crook. Chuck and Betty were married on November 10, 1945. They relocated to Chuck's home state of Arizona, settling in Phoenix. Betty worked for the State of Arizona, eventually retiring in 1985. Betty and Chuck were members of the Trinity United Methodist Church for over 50 years. Betty is predeceased by husband Chuck who passed away in 2002. Her love and wisdom will be missed by her children; Charles Bowman, Bill Bowman, Tom Bowman and Susan Ory, her 8 grandchildren, and her 10 great grandchildren, and 1 great, great granddaughter. Viewing will be on Monday, January 4, 2016 from 5pm to 8pm at Hanson's Mortuary, Phoenix, AZ. Services to celebrate her life will be held at 10:00am, Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at Trinity United Methodist Church, Phoenix, AZ, with Graveside service following at West Resthaven Park Cemetery , Glendale.
