Aaron "Wayne" Thompson GILMER - Services for Aaron "Wayne" Thompson, 81, of Winnsboro, will be Wednesday, September 9, 10 a.m., at McWhorter Funeral Home, 1074 SH 300, in Gilmer. Bro. Charles Johnson, Bro. Donny Chamberlain, and Bro. Michael Pool will officiate. Interment will be in Hopewell Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday September 8, from 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home. Mr. Thompson was born April 11, 1934 in Upshur County to Tom B. and Selma Mae Thompson. Wayne went to be with his Heavenly Father on September 6, 2015. He was a graduate of Harmony Schools, retired from Lone Star Steel and dairy farming He loved the outdoors and recounted many stories of rounding up cattle while riding his favorite horse Cocoa. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church, excited to attend whenever he could. He loved spending time with his family, especially the grandkids and great grandkids. He was known for giving nicknames to all his family. Preceded in death by his wife, Geneva; Daughter, Dedi Arlette Thompson; his parents; his brother, Thomas Thompson; and sister, Kathleen Newton. Survivors are his daughters and sons in law, Rolanda and Larry Barton, Kerri and Mike Smith, and Kristy Rygg; grandchildren, Amanda Grandgeorge and husband, Robby, Josh Barton and wife, Heather; Colt Stegall and wife, Nikki, Kadyn Stegall and Zackery Rygg; and 4 great-grandsons. Pallbearers will be Josh Barton, Colt Stegall, Robby Grandgeorge, Zack "Cowboy" Rygg, Chad Halcumb, Tuffy Hale and Bobby Buchanan. In lieu of flowers please make donations to The Hospice of East Texast at 4111 University Blvd. Tyler Texas 75701.
