Winnsboro (TX) News, May 26, 1966 (extracted from Dunnavant/Dunavant/Dunnivant/Dunivant families research records of Ruth Hasten Walsh) Funeral services for Jessie Taylor Dunavant, 67, of Pickton were held at 2 p.m. Monday May 23, 1966, at the Methodist Church at Pickton. Rev. Grady Wyatt, Rev. Jessie Miller and Rev. Thomas Abies officiated. Burial was at Harmony cemetery under the direction of Mc- Crary - Edwards Funeral Home. Mrs. Dunavant died May 22 at her home. A lifelong resident of Hopkins County, she was born Feb. 6, 1899. On Oct. 22, 1917 she married S. M. Dunavant who survives. She was a member of the Pickton Methodist Church. Survivors, other than her husband, include five children, Mrs. Betty Zachary, Winnsboro, and M. H. Dunavant, 0. R. Dunavant, Mrs. Ruth Townsend and Mrs. Marjorie Gilliland, all of Garland; a brother, Obie Coats, Sulphur Springs; six sisters, Mrs. Carl Randolph, Sulphur Springs, Mrs. Roy Calvert and Mrs. Sam Wilcox, Winnsboro. Mrs. Lizzie Payne, Shreveport, Mrs. Alva Ragen, Houston and Mrs. Lessie Wilcox, Dallas: 14 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Ernest Neighbors, Leman Neighbors, Thomas Walters, Russell Walters, Ralph Kimmons and Paul Minter. Survivors: Husband; two sons, M.H. Dunavant and O.R. Dunavant of Garland; three daughters, Mrs. S.A. Townsend and Mrs. M.T. Gilliland of Garland and Mrs. Robert Zackary of Winnsboro, 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
