Bio

Merna Ann Parrott Wright November 30, 1944 - July 11, 2024 Merna Ann Parrott Wright was born November 30, 1944, in San Angelo, Texas, the daughter of Robert and Dorothy Parrott. She married Raymond Wright on July 24, 1980, in North Las Vegas, Nevada. They were sealed in the St. George Temple on May 22, 1993. Merna and Ray met on a blind date set up by one of Merna's cousins. After a several month courtship, Ray proposed on the canal bridge close to the location of their current house. When it came time to build their house, Ray remembered he had a dishwasher on hand and Merna designed the house plan around the dishwasher. Merna is famous for her energy, organization, and for always being willing and ready to take charge of every situation. With boundless energy she enjoyed crafts, puzzles, and cross stitch. She and Ray helped start an ATV riding club in Southern Utah and have been great citizens of Hurricane for many years. Merna and Ray owned an upholstery shop. She sold Avon, did accounting work, and was a bank teller. She also enjoyed fishing, camping, doing genealogy and spending time with grandchildren, going to zoos, riding trains, and going on trips together. Merna served in many callings as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She and Ray taught the three-year-old Sunbeams in Primary and Merna spent 15 years as the compassionate service leader in Relief Society helping to plan and serve many, many funeral meals. Merna is survived by her husband Raymond, Hurricane and daughters Carol Dever, Hurricane and Kathy Caroll, Michigan and Raymond's four children he added to their family; Camile Wright, Las Vegas, Robert Wright, Las Vegas, Christine Meger, Las Vegas, Sully (Diane) Wright, Michigan, 12 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 15, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the Hurricane LDS Stake Center located at 675 South 700 West Hurricane, Utah. A viewing will take place on Monday, July 15, 2024, from 1:00-1:45 p.m. at the same location. Interment to follow services at the Hurricane City Cemetery.
