Dennis F. Novotny, 83 years of Fremont, NE passed away July 18, 2024 at his home. He was born on December 29, 1940, in Clarkson, Nebraska to Frank and Mary (Lapour) Novotny. Dennis graduated from Howells High School in 1959. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1959 to 1962. Dennis married Virginia Carlow on January 15, 1966, in Bloomfield, NE at St. Andrews Catholic Church. They moved to a farm south of Howells and then to Fremont in 2011. Dennis was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed playing the accordion and going to the casino. Dennis is survived by brothers in law, Leslie (Janelle) Carlow of Colonial Heights, Virginia and Stanley (Kathy) Carlow of Firth, NE; sister-in-law, Crystal (Terry) Nelson of Lincoln, NE. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Virginia; sons, Paul and Robert "Bobby" Novotny; and brothers in law, Michael Carlow, Terry Carlow, and Gary Carlow. Funeral Mass is 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Heun, NE. Father Jairo Congote will officiate. Visitation is at the church 5-7 P.M., Monday, July 22, 2024. The rosary will begin at 7 PM following the visitation. Burial with Military Honors will be at Heun Cemetery.
