William Jeffery died April 4 at his home northwest of Venus, Nebraska, age 83 years, nine months and 25 days. Deceased was born in Salsberry, Ind. June 9, 1855. He was united in marriage to Mrs. Mary Pospisil, September 17, 1903 at Omaha, Nebraska. To this union were born nine children. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary Jeffery and nine children. They are Elizabeth Bragg Jr. of Venus; Mrs. Nancy Fahrenholz at Norfolk; Mrs. Mamie Fahrenholz at Roanoke, Mo.; Mrs. Daisy Edmister at Bartlett; Mrs. Ruby Brannde and William Jr.; George, John and Minnie Jeffery, all at home. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, three stepsons, Louie, Henry and Barney Pospisil; two half sisters, Mrs. Nancy Loar, Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. Louisa May of Peoria, Ill. Mr. Jeffery was a member of the Odd Fellows' Lodge, also a member of the Methodist church. He came to Nebraska in 1900, began farming six miles north of Breslau, Nebraska until 1924. He moved to the Venus community and has since lived there until the time of his death. He was a devoted husband and a kind father. Funeral services were held with Rev. C.F. Wantz of Orchard in charge at the house at 2 p.m. and at the Venus church at 2:30. Interment was in the Enterprise cemetery.--Orchard News ...The Creighton News 13 April 1939
