Norfolk Daily News 2 Dec 2003 Rose Brookhouser Creighton -- Services for Rose Brookhouser, 96 Creighton, will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec, 5 at the Brockhaus Funeral Home here. Burial will be in Hope-Enterprise Cemetery near Orchard. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with a service at 7 p.m. She died Friday, Nov 28, 2003, at Creighton Care Center. The daughter of Joseph and Emma (Belohlavy) Sokol was born Feb. 24 1907, at Verdigre. After the death of her mother, she and her sister lived with their grandmother until her father remarried. She attend Verdigre High School. She married Ralph Brookhouser on Nov. 23, 1926, at Verdigre. The couple farmed in the Walnut, Verdigre, and Venus areas. She was involved with the delivery of Montgomery Ward catalogs in the Venus community and was also a census taker. She was a news correspondent for local newspapers for many years as well. Mrs. Brookhouser was a member of the Venus Wesleyan Church, Help You Club, and Work and Fun Club. Survivors include four daughter and their husbands, Lorrene and Jim Border of Venice, Fla, Leanore Bartos of Verdigre, Donna and Marlin Tisha of Yankton, S.D, and Anita EnEarl of Gaitbersburg, ME; one son, Larry of Orchard; on daughter-in-law, Thema Brookhouser of Cody, Wyo; one sister, Lillian Small of Venice, Fla.; one stepsister, Beatrice Curtis of Omaha; 24 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, one step-brother and one grandson.
