Bio

Jeanne Blair Zimmerhanzel, 77, of Breckenridge, Texas, passed away at her residence on June 12, 2024. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 17, 2024, at Woodson Cemetery, with Don Bearden officiating. Jeanne was born in Breckenridge on November 16, 1946, to parents James and Vernelle Blair. The Blair family moved to Throckmorton shortly after her birth and she attended school in Throckmorton until completion of her 10th grade, where she went to work to help the family. Being raised by a very strong and independent mother, Jeanne learned some of those strong qualities and utilized those qualities all throughout her life. Jeanne was blessed with three children: James, Tim, and Teresa. Throughout her life, Jeanne took being a mother to her children extremely seriously. Even though there may have been disagreements with family, family always came out on top in the end. Jeanne married Fred Zimmerhanzel in 1978 and remained his companion until his passing. One of the common things said of Jeanne was just how important it is to simply be a mother and keep a home for those she loved dearly. In her spare time, she enjoyed golf, fishing and hunting. In later years, the truth came out regarding hunting. Jeanne loved to go and be with everyone but didn't really enjoy the hunting part. In the later years of her life, she and her daughter went off to cosmetology school in Fort Worth to learn to do nails together. It was a joy to be able to join her daughter and eventually have a business together. She was a faithful member of Bethany Baptist Church until her health prevented her from getting out. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Vernelle Blair, husband Fred Zimmerhanzel, and one brother, J.W. Blair. Jeanne is survived by a daughter, Teresa Roberts, and husband, Joe; sons, James Stewart and Tim Stewart; wife, Landa; brother, James Alton Blair, along with 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Memorials to St. Jude may be left at the Melton Kitchens Funeral Home, or condolences may be made at meltonkitchens.com.
