Georgia Lillie Vasicek Gibson passed on to her eternal resting place on June 4, 2024 at the age of 89. Georgia was born on October 16, 1934 to George and Cecilia Lillie Vasicek and was part of a large, loving family, the fourth of ten siblings. Georgia is survived by son, Michael Gibson; daughter, Joan Gay and husband, Landrum; sisters, Elizabeth Przyborski, Julie Ann Kenjura and husband, John; brothers, Emil Vasicek and wife, Cecilia, Daniel Vasicek and wife, Jennifer; sister-in-law, Neely Vasicek; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Chase Gay, Connor Gay, and Sofia Gibson. Georgia is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 51 years, Donald A. Gibson, Jr.; brothers, Albin Vasicek and William Vasicek; sisters, Irene Schneider and husband, Clif, Dorothy Moye and husband, Glenn, Anita Steely and husband, Carroll; brother-in-law, Steve Przyborski; nieces, Shirley Crowder and Margaret Cunnigham; and nephew, David Vasicek. Georgia grew up on a farm in Industry, Texas where she recalled many memories of picking cotton and vegetables and often taking care of her younger brothers and sisters. After graduating from Belleville High School, Georgia moved to Houston, Texas where she worked at the phone company and the Port of Houston, attended night school, was active in a young adults group at St. Anne's Catholic Church and eventually met her husband, Don. Don and Georgia lived in Bellaire, Texas. Georgia was a loving mother and homemaker. Georgia later worked outside the home as proprietor of her own gift and resale shop and as a childcare worker. Georgia and Don later moved to Richmond, Texas to be close to their family and grandchildren. Georgia resided in Sugar Land, Texas at the time of her death. Georgia was always an active and faithful member of the Catholic church. As a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Richmond, she participated in the Society of Saint Margaret Mary and enjoyed many fellowship activities, especially trips to the casinos. She was also a member of KJZT Family Life Society, a non-profit service organization started by Catholic Czech women. Georgia was a very gracious and kind-hearted person who was particularly attuned to those who needed help or were alone. She loved her family dearly and looked forward to the annual family reunions to catch up with her relatives. She enjoyed taking trips with her family and friends, watching sports with her husband, reading, newspaper puzzles, garage saling, and being a beloved "Granny" to her grandchildren, especially playing board games, attending school events, and supporting their various interests. She led a very active life, and even into her 80s, she went to exercise and yoga classes, socialized with her neighbors, and loved to play bingo. We will miss her immensely! Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a rosary at 7:00 p.m., Monday, June 17, 2024, in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. The funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 507 S. 4th Street in Richmond, Texas. Burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg.
