Obituary (from the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow funeral home website): Avys Rae Loftice Murray, age 96, was called to her eternal home by her heavenly Father in McKinney, Texas, having accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at the age of 9 years in the Methodist Church in Melissa, Texas. Avys was born on May 26, 1928, to Charles Raymond and Onie Bea (Wagner) Loftice in Melissa, Texas. She married Dorrell Gene Murray on November 23, 1946, in McKinney, Texas, where they lived the remainder of their lives. To this union were born two sons, Michael in 1953 and Patrick in 1956. Avys worked at the VA Hospital in McKinney until it closed in 1965. After eleven years working with her husband in Murray's Jewelry, she went to work at Richardson Medical Center. Avys retired from Wysong Hospital in McKinney in 1994. During this time, she acquired her Certified Medical Transcriptionist Certificate and Accredited Health Information Technician degree. Avys was a member of North Baptist Church since 1947, having served as church clerk for about 15 years and was an elementary Sunday School teacher for many years. Avys is survived by her son, Michael Murray; daughter-in-law, Ronda Murray, five grandchildren, Micah Murray and wife, Vicky, Mikaela Murray Odle and husband, Joshua, Jenny Murray Hare and husband, Tim, Dana Murray LeNorman and husband, Dustin, and Sara Murray Sellers and husband, Steven. Also, eleven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, DG Murray; son, Patrick Murray; her parents Rat and B, and sister, Vera. A funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, June 8, 2023 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. Following the service, a procession will make its way to Melissa Cemetery, 422 East Melissa Road, Melissa, Texas 75454 for a committal service. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made in Avys' memory to Community North Baptist Church, 2500 Community Avenue, McKinney, Texas 75071, or the charity of your choice.
