Services for Mary Cate, 97, formerly of Lubbock, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at Resthaven's Abbey Chapel. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven. Mary passed away on May 22, 2008, at Woodville, Texas. Mary Frances Sims Cate was born on March 20, 1911, in Blue Ridge, to Ferdinand A. and El Nettie Cornelia Dotson Sims. She married Quentin "Buck" Cate, on Dec. 15, 1928, in Ropesville. Mary was a long-time member of Calvary Baptist Church, in Lubbock. She was a homemaker and child day-care provider in her home for many years. She resided in Lubbock, for 50 years before moving to Colmesneil, Texas in 1990. Mary was preceded in death by her husband; parents; eight brothers and sisters; and one daughter, Frances Jean "Jeanne" Buck. Survivors include two sons, Tommy Lee and wife, Peggy, of Colmesneil, and James Alan and wife, Vivian, of Mesquite; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
