Phillip L. Cull July 19, 1940 - May 19, 2024 Phil Cull, 83, of North Richland Hills, was called home peacefully to the Lord on Sunday, May 19, 2024. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 27 years, Doris (Lil Darlin'); stillborn son, baby Cull; and son, James of TX; parents, Helen and Jasper; brothers, Pete and Joseph, all of Kentucky; He is survived by sister, Nancy Frank from Evansville, Indiana; brother, Don Cull Sr. of Louisville, Kentucky; niece, Mary Vincent; and nephew, Don Cull Jr.; three great-nieces, Heather Mucci, Ashley Vincent and Emily Priddy; nine great-nieces, one great-great-nephew, all residing in Kentucky; daughters, Cyndi Duggar (Jeff), Nancy; niece, Tina Flavin (Victor); son, Terry (Vicky); grandsons, Travis, James and Chad; and his granddaughters, Christina, Sara, and Jessica of Texas. A magnitude of extended family including In-laws, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and greats of all kinds, in Kentucky, Texas, and in other states. During 1958-1962 he served as a Marine aboard the USS Hornet, as the guard of the Brigg. His stories and reflections of this chapter in life, was never-ending and full of heart. It was an honor to see his reactions and hear his stories when he visited the Hornet again, 50 years later. One if the best times he had in his older years, reliving his days on the ship. Phil answered the call from God to serve. On February 11, 1970, he received his Certificate of License certifying God called him into The Gospel Ministry by Washington Avenue Baptist Church in Evansville, Indiana. On March 24, 1971 Certificate of Ordination was presented to him in the same church, by a highly regarded mentor and friend, Brother Howard Clayman. Phillip then moved his then family to Fort Worth, Texas to attend the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He worked, attended school, and struggled. He was not an educated man like all the other students starting out were. God humbled him with having to ask for help, in order to utilize the library index. Even with struggles, Phillip placed his faith in God and completed the program. Diploma in Theology was presented to Phil on December 19, 1975. Phil was associated with Glenwood Baptist Church of Fort Worth, serving in many capacities including their bus ministry and private school. He was able to give children a fresh start in school with a calm discipline. He never held their past against them, nor anyone because he truly believed that everyone deserved another chance. Phil conducted home Bible studies which brought many family members and friends in attendance. He was very instrumental in bringing people to the Lord and he never stopped spreading Gods loving word. He was a generous man who freely gave from his own needs, to anyone who needed help. It didn't matter to him where you came from, your situation, if he could help you, he would. He was a very humble man that was unable to accept any compliment. He knew all gifts were from God and that is who you should praise. His wisdom, smile, laughter and wit will be greatly missed. He enlisted as a Marine in 1958, and he died a Marine in 2024. He was Gods before July 19, 1940, and is now back home with God for eternity.
