Joyce Childers, age 83 passed away Saturday, November 18, 2023, in Lindale, Texas. A Visitation will be held prior to service at 1:30 P.M. as the Funeral Services will be 2:30 P.M. on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at Carmel Baptist Church in Lindale, Texas under the direction of Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home with Bro. James Cheatham officiating. Joyce was born December 13, 1939, in Palmer, Texas in Ellis County to the late John D. and Freddie Irma (Lee) Hoover. She was formally from Dallas, Texas and has lived in Lindale since 1972. Joyce worked as an Elevator Operator at T.P.L. and for the Lindale Independent School District as a custodian. She was a longtime member of Carmel Baptist Church in Lindale, Texas. Family was very important to Joyce and she loved cooking for them. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting and working crossword puzzles. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, John and Freddie (Lee) Hoover; brother, Horace Hoover; sisters, Glenna Gant and Martha Hoover; grandson, Sean Munoz. She is survived by husband of 66 years, Ed Childers; two sons, Rick and wife, Lana Childers of Golden, Texas, and Allen and wife, Kelli Childers of Lindale, Texas; three daughters, Robin and husband, Dale Melton of Lindale, Texas, Beverly and husband, Lee Thomas of Mineola, Texas, and Amanda and husband, Robby Hood of Lindale, Texas; eighteen grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at Carmel Baptist Church in Lindale, Texas. Interment will be at Carmel Baptist Church in Lindale, Texas following the funeral service.
