Graveside services for Irene Loving Chitwood, 87, of Rubottom will be at 10 a.m. Friday, May 23, 2008, in Leon Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Williams officiating. Born on Feb. 5, 1921, in Simon to Albert Finley and Nora Jane Cavins Loving, she died on Monday, May 19, 2008, in an Ardmore hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Olen and Albert Loving; and three sisters, Mary Morgan, Viola Williams and Nora Black. She married Daniel D. Chitwood on Nov. 2, 1946, in Gainesville, Texas. Her husband preceded her in death on April 29, 1996. A resident of Simon and Rubottom all of her life, she graduated from Orr High School and worked as a seamstress at Marietta Sportswear for many years. She received a teaching certificate from Southeastern Oklahoma State University and taught school at Simon and Orr. She truly loved her family and preparing large meals for them. Mrs. Chitwood was an avid reader and also enjoyed making quilts, gardening and canning. She was a member of Rubottom Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Odis and Sharon Chitwood, Bedford, Texas, and Scott and Stephanie Chitwood, Marietta; two daughters and sons-in-law, Suzanne and Ronald Reed, Choctaw, and Beth and Wayland Brown, Marietta; eight grandchildren, Kim Anderson, Misty Brock, Shane Reed, Sharolyn Chitwood, Kari Brown, Dannette Heizer, Lacy Brown and Steven Chitwood; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Alta Faye Yocum, Burneyville, and Kleo Loving, Ringling; numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Bearers will be her grandchildren and honorary bearers will be her nieces and nephews. Visitation will from 6-7 p.m. today in Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta.
