Civil War Veteran Co A 8th Iowa Infantry From military records: Alger, Delos. Age 23. Residence Clinton County,Ia nativity Iowa. Enlisted & mustered Jan. 27, 1865. Killed in action April 8, 1865, Spanish Fort,Alabama. --------------------------- Abner Age 43 (his brother) & Joseph S Alger Age 17 (probably his brother)also enlisted in same company. Abner in 1861 and Joseph in 1864. Abner was taken prisoner at Battle of Shiloh, exchanged and died St Louis. Joseph was wounded severely in head April 9, 1864, Pleasant Hill, La. Mustered out April 20, 1866, Selma, Ala.
