Bio

Victor Henry Spaniel joined the Kingdom of Heaven on March 15, 2024. He was born November 2, 1933 to Aloisie (Krajca) and Frank K. Spaniel, in Ennis, Texas where he was a longtime resident. Victor had an incredibly sharp mind and quick wit. He attended Lone Oak School, until their doors closed in 1946. A 1950 graduate of St. John Catholic High School, he received a scholarship for "highest ranking boy". He later graduated from Navarro College with an Associates Degree. Victor proudly served his country in the United States Army before earning a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Houston in 1959. He worked in retail pharmacies in the Houston, Ennis, Dallas and Waxahachie areas for many, many years, before retiring in 2005 from the Veterans Mail Order Pharmacy. Occasionally, Victor would deliver medication to customers homes, who were too sick or elderly. In 1961, Victor took Betty R. Baranowski as his beloved bride, and the couple welcomed four children, Karen, Karl, Kay, and Keith. The two shared 54 years devoted to each other before her passing on October 11, 2015. Victor enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, working on his family farm, raising cattle, and helping his friends and neighbors. He delighted in the pleasure of a dark beer or other libations, and Polka music. Victor also gave back to his community as a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church and KJT Society #35. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Betty Spaniel; parents Frank K. and Aloisie Spaniel; siblings Eleanor Spaniel, Frank L. Spaniel, Joe C. Spaniel, Mary Ann Janousek, and Emilie F. Spaniel. Victor is survived by his children Karen (Kapil) Sabharwal, Karl (Suzann) Spaniel, Kay (Gary) Hibbs, and Keith (Carla) Spaniel; grandchildren Madison (Zachary) Matous, Samantha Hibbs, Cyrus Sabharwal, Raynie Spaniel, Emily Spaniel and Warren Spaniel; sisters-in-law Theresa Hoffart, Bernice Baranowski and Ann Young; and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held Friday, March 29, 2024 at 10:00AM at Dallas Ft. Worth National Cemetery. Following the graveside service, a Celebration of Life will be held at the KJT Society #35 Dining Room, located at 1216 South Paris Street, in Ennis, Texas.
