Bio

Lydia Kaspar departed this earthly life Friday, July 16, 2021, at the age of 91. Lydia was born the fifth of six children Jan. 28, 1930, to John and Victoria Stiba in Rice's Crossing near Taylor. She absolutely loved her sisters and brothers and told many stories about them while growing up on the farm. She graduated from Taylor High School, class of 1947, and Durham's Business School. She married Tony Kaspar June 18, 1950, and was blessed with three daughters. One of their biggest pleasures was going fishing at the coast with their friends. Lydia loved children so much that she worked as a day care worker at Seventh Street Day Care for 27 years. You could not go anywhere in Taylor without someone coming up to her and remembering the days when she took care of them. Not only did she take care of the children, but also took care of those same children's children. As she got older, she may have reduced her work hours, but would not give up going in to help put down the babies for naptime. Lydia would often be seen with her dearest friend, Rose Hobbs. They walked and talked every day for many years. But that wasn't enough! They would even call each other on the phone. Thank you Johnny Hobbs, Mary Lou Garcia and Trisha Randig for treating her like your second mother. Lydia was preceded in death by her husband, Tony Kaspar; her parents; newborn son, Keith Joseph Kaspar; brothers, John and Ernest Stiba; and sisters, Ruth Geist and Thelma Boudny. She is survived by her daughter, Kathryn (Kathy) Waters and husband, Joel of Willis; her daughter, Janice Weber and husband, Steven of Buda; and daughter, Carol Bullion of Taylor. She was "Mee Mee" to 10 grandchildren, Yvonne Waters of Riga, Latvia, Jeanice Light and husband Larkin of Willis, Virginia Foster and husband Chris of Flagstaff, Arizona, John Waters of Fort Meade, Maryland, Whitney Upton-Waters and husband Ryan of Ladson, South Carolina, Andrew Weber and wife Candace of Galveston, Justin Weber and wife Tiffany of Spring; Brad Weber and wife Sara of Cedar Park, Natalie Bullion of Napa, California, and Rachel Bullion of Austin. She was "Gran Mee Mee" to 11 great-grandchildren, David Marshall, Geoffrey Marshall, Megan Light, Eric Light, Krista Nile Foster, Mavis Mae Waters, Isaac Weber, Simon Weber, Abram Weber, Anna Weber and William Weber; sister, Inez Shrader; and many special nieces and nephews. Pall bearers are Andrew Weber, Justin Weber, Brad Weber, John Waters, Larkin Light, and Eric Light. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 22, from 5 to 7 p.m. with rosary at 6 p.m. at Providence Funeral Home, 807 Carlos Parker Blvd. NW, in Taylor. Mass of Christian burial will be Friday, July 23, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Cyril and Methodius Church, 105 Guadalupe Street in Granger. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Taylor.
