Bio

Ellis Joseph Seidel, 85 of Taylor passed away, Sunday, December 27, 2009. Visitation will be 6-8 PM, with Rosary recited at 7 PM on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at Providence Funeral Home Chapel. Celebration of Life Mass will be at 10 AM, Thursday, December 31, 2009 at St. Mary s Catholic Church in Taylor with Rev. Msgr. Lonnie Urban officiating. Burial will follow at St Mary s Cemetery. Ellis Joseph Seidel was born on March 3, 1924 to Henry and Julie (Lehman) Seidel in Rockne, Texas. He proudly served in the United States Army during WWII in the Asiatic-Pacific Arena. He received the Asiatic-Pacific campaign medal with 2 bronze stars and 1 bronze arrowhead, the Philippine Liberation Medal with 1 bronze star, the good conduct medal, a purple heart, a victory ribbon and 4 overseas bars. He married Ruby Lee Balusek on May 28, 1949 in Georgetown, TX. and this marriage was blessed with two children. He lived most of his life in the Taylor area. Ellis was a member of St. Mary s Catholic Church and VFW. He worked for 33 years at Alcoa as a Pot Tender. Ellis was a gentle, quiet man who was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who adored his family. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, playing the guitar and doing his own car and house maintenance. Some of his best moments were those spent with his family. He was very active in his grandchildren s lives, caring for them, attending sports events and all their activities. Ellis was even able to attend some of his great grandchildren s soccer games and continue this loving tradition as he did with the grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Rupert Seidel, Sherwood Seidel, and a sister, Marceline Driver. Ellis is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Ruby Seidel of Taylor; a son, Bruce Seidel and wife, Ann of Granger; a daughter, Linda Fuessel and husband, Kurt of Gatesville; grandchildren, Erik Fuessel and wife, Sherry; Nathan Fuessel and wife, Chelsea both of Temple; Mark Fuessel of Gatesville; Branden Seidel of Temple; Amber Seidel of Livingston; Krista Seidel of Taylor; Jaimie Holt of Granger; Amanda Turner and husband Matt of Temple; 4 great grandchildren; a sister, Norma Lee Seidel of Taylor as well as numerous other relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be Erik Fuessel, Nathan Fuessel, Mark Fuessel, Branden Seidel, Brad Schultz, and David Blomquist. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice in memory of Ellis.
