SEMONA G. JOHNSON WHITNEY, age 94, passed away on July 8, 2008 in Medford, New Jersey. Born April 23, 1914. Except for the past four-and-half years, Semona was a lifelong resident of northeast Minneapolis, Minnesota. Preceded in death by parents, siblings and husband. Survived by sons, Charles M. and Frank V.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Whitney worked at the Minneapolis Credit Bureau for many years. Was a staff writer for the Minneapolis Argus. Was a published essay writer and poet. Self published a book about her mother titled "Hilda". In later years a league bowler, Vikings and Twins fan. Semona was a past member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and Holy Triune Lutheran Church. A memorial service will be held on August 4, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Northeast Community Lutheran Church, 697 13th Avenue N.E., Minneapolis, Minnesota.
