Vlasta E. Mekolik, age 93, of Taylor, died April 19, 2017 at SPJST nursing home with family by her side. Vlasta Elizabeth Mekolik was born November 18, 1923 to Jim and Tonie (Marek) Bohac in Granger, Texas. Vlasta was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the K.J.T. She married John Mekolik in Granger, Texas June 24, 1946. Vlasta was a farmer and worked as a cook at Taylor Hospital and SPJST Nursing Facility. She enjoyed being around her family and taking care of her flower garden. She was preceded in death by her husband, John J. Mekolik; her parents, Jim and Tonie Bohac; two sons, Jimmy C. Mekolik and Robert P. Mekolik; two brothers, Emil Bohac and Henry Bohac; and two sisters, Mary Vitek and Edith Vitek. Vlasta Mekolik is survived by her two sons, John L. Mekolik of College Station and Patrick (Tina) Mekolik of Houston; three daughters, Angeline (Terrance) Patrick of Vivian, South Dakota, Monica Mekolik of Taylor, and Katherine Authier of Presho, South Dakota; a brother, Jerry (Mary Lee) Bohac of Granger; three grandsons, John C. Mekolik, Aaron S. Mekolik, and Benjamin M. Authier; and five granddaughters, Sarah J. Leadbetter, Shannon L. Hinman, Sarah E. Patrick, Alicia M. Authier, and Maria E. Authier; one great grandson, Preston Leadbetter; one great granddaughter, Nora Hinman on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Rosary will be held Friday April 21, 2017 at 7 p.m. at Condra Funeral home. Celebration of life Mass will be celebrated Saturday April 22, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Taylor. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of Condra Funeral Home, Taylor, TX.
