Bio

Harry House died on March 14, 2024 at the age of 77 at Christian Homes Nursing Home in Holdrege, Nebraska. Harry was born on March 18, 1946 in Sargent, Nebraska to Jack & Agnes (Kamery) Howard. He was the last of four children. Harry grew up in the hills of Loup County, and in Sargent. Harry spent time in bouncing around Omaha before meeting the one and only love of his life, Shannon Rose Chrisman, aka Whirly. The couple married after knowing each other only 68 days. They spent the next 39 years, 2 months, and 19 days walking through this world hand in hand. Their only child, Michelle, was born in 1968. They had one grandson, Kody Howard, who was born in 1991. Harry & Whirly lived in a few towns around Nebraska, particularly Holdrege, but Omaha was always home. After Whirly died in 2006, he left Omaha and never looked back. He lived in Sargent, Red Oak, Iowa, and Lyons, NE before settling back in Holdrege for the final ten years of his life. Harry was a deep thinker, enjoying the early morning hours with his "dark thoughts". He was generally happier with animals than humans. Especially pigeons and chickens. Harry was raising pigeons in the barn loft when he was five years old and he never stopped. He loved to reminiscence about his days on the farm, milking cows and hiding favorite chickens when it was time for his mother to butcher them. Harry never cared for the 9 - 5 lifestyle. He was a jack of all trades. He could work cement, paint houses, hang drywall, sell fruit, take out tree stumps, and was especially good as a cab driver. As he got a little older he had an extensive garden of flowers and Hosta, along with a cactus garden, fish ponds, and a gazebo. He loved to put up and tear down 6' privacy fences that he'd build himself, everywhere he ever lived. Harry House is survived by his daughter, Michelle, grandson Kody, son-in-law Anthony Colella, all of Holdrege, sister Elaine Zurek of Omaha, and numerous nephews and nieces. He was proceeded in death by his wife, Shannon, parents Jack & Agnes Howard, brothers Eldon and Gale Howard, beloved nephew Bruce Zurek. a lot of good friends and his treasured dog, Ruben. Harry was laid to rest on March 18, 2024 in the Madison Square Cemetery west of Taylor in a private ceremony. Govier Brothers Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
